SHARE Scholarship by SHARE EU ASEAN Batch 2 - Taylor's University, Malaysia

Hi everyone! How's your day? Is it nice? Hahaha.

Due to a lot of people asking me why I'm living in Malaysia right now, let me share some things to you. I will make it as simple as possible and I will write it as FAQ format. I'll write some points of what are the frequently asked questions from the next batch applicants of SHARE Scholarship to me.

First I will introduce myself :)

Hey! My name is Sonia. Actually I'm a 2nd year Accounting student in Diponegoro University, Indonesia. I moved to Malaysia 2 weeks ago in order to completing my exchange semester in Taylor's University, Malaysia.

Waitt, semester?

Yes, I will be living here in Malaysia for one semester, or around 5 months. From March 20th, 2017 till July 31st, 2017.

How about the cost? Should I pay anything or is it free?

It's FREE at all. Because I'm getting fully-funded scholarship from the European Union (EU).

It looks so interesting. What kind of program is that?

The name of the program is SHARE Scholarship. I was selected as one of the awardees of EU-SHARE Scholarship Batch 2. This scholarship has a purpose to support higher education in ASEAN region. The awardees can select to go abroad for one semester fully-funded exchange in another ASEAN countries (for batch 1 & 2) or to ASEAN/Europe countries (for batch 3 & 4).

Fully funded - What kind of things are covered by SHARE Scholarship?

Okay, as an Accounting student, let me break down what I've got from this scholarship :)
I will count it using EUR (euro) and then convert it to IDR and MYR.
  • Tuition fees (for International Business in Taylor's University) : EUR 3.530
  • Settling in Allowance : +/- EUR 150
  • Visa Fees (at cost) : +/- EUR 150
  • Health Insurance : +/-EUR 150
  • International Flight Tickets (round-trip) : +/- EUR 160
  • Domestic Flight Tickets : +/- EUR 140
  • Dormitory & Electricity Bills (for 5 months) : +/- EUR 1.200
  • Monthly Allowance (for 5 months; already reduced by the dormitory costs) : +/- EUR 1.500
  • Study Materials : +/- EUR 100
TOTAL = EUR 7080 +/- MYR 33.500 = +/- IDR 100.700.000

So that is the total amount of scholarship that I received for studying in Taylor's University, Malaysia. Different universities and different countries are getting different amount of scholarship benefits based on which country you are lived in. For example for those who are applying in Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam, they will get smaller amount than those who are studying in Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand. It depends on the scholarship regulation that based on the cost of living in every countries.
